This interview was conducted at Holy Redeemer by Archivist Caira Spenrath, as part of a Church History Harvest event hosted by the San Antonio African American Community Archive and Museum (SAAACAM).\u003c/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eMargaret Ume joined Holy Redeemer church in 1966 when her father Lables Kid was in the Air Force stationed at Kelly. Ume’s earliest memory of Holy Redeemer was when she was a small child and used to go to school when the teachers were nuns. She also remembers the bathrooms being outdoors. Ume was married at Holy Redeemer in 1987 when she was 26 years old, by father Wagner. Also retired from Kelly Air Force Base, Ume says that joining the gospel choir has been a positive force. Her mother Haralyn Kid, was also an involved art teacher who incorporated arts and crafts into the Bible Study.
