The seventh graders are your tweeners and, of course, eighth graders think they're the boss. And– and it's almost like the little boy that cries wolf, the one kid that actually is being bullied need to make sure that they're being heard, their voice is being heard. I mean, we have cases right here in San Antonio, to where a law was actually passed, because the kid was bullied to– to death. And it's kids all across the nation that are being bullied to death. I mean, it's– it’s unfortunate that I wish they had more grit to stand up to those bullies. But when nobody's listening to you, or you're not sharing what's been happening to you– just being tormented and tortured, to where I guess some of the– most of the kids probably feel like they're at a point of no return and their only resort is to commit suicide. And I wish that they would reach out to an adult before they take that drastic step because there's no do-overs when you commit suicide. Because I don't– you know, until you've walked a mile in a young man's shoes, of color, you're not able to relate to what they're dealing with on a daily basis. And I think we take so much for granted. So I think that's why it's important to have a voice because we– we go through life, you know, looking through rose colored glasses. It’s not that easy. It's not that simple. It's a– it’s a tough world out there. And that's why education is real critical for young men, especially young men of color. Even though she was a teacher, she– she knew our every move, at least she thought she did. Sometimes my sisters would flip out the window and go to the local, you know, music joint to go dancing and do whatever. But she had us pretty well grounded and we knew what we wanted to do when we grew up in a early– early part of our lives. They had high expectations for us. But I think as a little girl, you know, growing up like, I mean, I always exercised, and when my sisters and brothers would be in the bed, my dad would be smoking his Winstons [cigarettes] and I had my feet down under the couch doing sit-ups and push-ups and exercising. And and I didn't know why I was doing it. I just know it made me feel good. And so I just, I don't know, they– they left us a good foun– they gave us a good foundation. They just always taught us to treat people right. Don't talk about other people. My mother would hear us gossiping, like, “Stop all that madness,” you know, “Stop that nonsense!” And she wouldn't condone, you know, us being mean to other people. And she just had a heart of gold and so did my grandmother, Bernice Thompson, who opened BCFA [Unknown acronym]. So we grew up in good soil, you know. It's just a– a great melting pot, a great place to come and raise a family. I mean, if you’re looking for a fast life and you're single, maybe this might not be the spot for you. But I mean, I think we're becoming more progressive. And we're– we're, you know, we're trying to do things to make our– put our city on the map. I mean, after a while, you can only do so much at Alamo and Splashtown and SeaWorld but we have so much urban culture here that– and we're doing more things in film. So I’m real happy about the progressiveness that San Antonio is bringing. We have a great culture. We seem like we just have a community of great leaders and– and just a really good feel when you come here. I mean, we're growing in leaps and bounds that this is really just a great place to live. You know, cost of living is not– not too bad. So what's not to like? I mean, I love the Mexican food.I mean, oh my golly, I can just– I start rattling off names here. They're probably pack Rosarios and Paloma Blanca and– and just– it's just– it’s just a neat place to come and hang out. I love to eat outside.
