It would be four, five, six, seven guys–and this is back in the rock and roll days, Frankie Lymon, you know, that– that– those type of guys, back in the ‘50s–and we used to– just would sing for pleasure. And so once in a while we’d go to a recreational hall and people would ask us to sing there, and that's where it started. But other than that– oh, then we had an experience in– at the– at the Apollo and didn't do that well. And the Apollo is a hard place to make it if you– if anybody's ever sang there. If you make it, you're good. If not, it's really, really a hard place to be successful. Started working with liquor companies, Seagrams, Grand-Dad, Old Taylor, started working selling liquor and so forth like that. From that point on, I got some training, I went to the Albany Institution of Employment Training, where I got skills– obtained the skills to– to train others in interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, problem solving. And that really catapulted me into the area of training the trainer. And that's what opened the doors for me to get jobs with Kentucky Fried Chicken, where I became a regional manager for them, handling ten stores. Left there, started working with the department– with the economically disadvantaged young men and women. The first job I had there was assisting director to an automotive program, where– it was a chop shop, where we took people who came out of jail, who literally broke down cars and stole ‘em and did those things. But they came out of jail and we'd give ‘em a second chance, retrained ‘em, get them jobs with General Motors, Chrysler, Volkswagen, and so forth. And it was very successful. The gentleman who– who discovered that or who created it was a Reverend Gusweller, and he made a deal with the mayor of New York, that “I could take ten of your men and/or women, train them in ten weeks, and get ‘em a job with General Motors, Chrysler,” and we did that. And that was the beginning of that program and it went well, went well. My job at that time was to– was to make contacts with the major corporations that would provide jobs for this organization, and also donate vehicles so that they can train ‘em. And we were able to get brand new cars from these organizations. So that was the beginning of working with the economically disadvantaged. From that point on, I started working with the– an organization that was world-renowned, was called World Rehabilitation. And what they did is they trained people all over the world, how to– how to develop prosthetic and orthotic devices. And my job in that case was, again, to teach young men and women how to have interpersonal skills. Now that you have the– the skill, the technology to do the job, you still have to work with the people. So how do you work with those people? Have to have some sort of compassion, you have to know what to say, how to say it, when to say it. You have to look at the body language as you're speaking to somebody to know that, “Is this appropriate to make this move now, or not?” You know, it's returning business.\n\nJeremy Carrizales","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://saaacam.aviaryplatform.com/collections/2808/collection_resources/131955/file/246567#t=226.0,420.0"},{"id":"https://saaacam.aviaryplatform.com/collections/2808/collection_resources/131955/file/246567/transcript/68738/annotation/31","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Did that ever transfer over for you singing, you know, in front of a lot of people? \n\nGilbert Centeno","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://saaacam.aviaryplatform.com/collections/2808/collection_resources/131955/file/246567#t=420.0,426.0"},{"id":"https://saaacam.aviaryplatform.com/collections/2808/collection_resources/131955/file/246567/transcript/68738/annotation/32","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Absolutely.\n\nJeremy Carrizales","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://saaacam.aviaryplatform.com/collections/2808/collection_resources/131955/file/246567#t=426.0,426.0"},{"id":"https://saaacam.aviaryplatform.com/collections/2808/collection_resources/131955/file/246567/transcript/68738/annotation/33","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Would you kinda have to–?\n\nGilbert Centeno","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://saaacam.aviaryplatform.com/collections/2808/collection_resources/131955/file/246567#t=426.0,427.0"},{"id":"https://saaacam.aviaryplatform.com/collections/2808/collection_resources/131955/file/246567/transcript/68738/annotation/34","type":"Annotation","motivation":"transcribing","body":{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Absolutely, absolutely.
