It's been such a blessing because we can now work with kids at the foundational level, making sure that they have a great educational foundation on which to build on, which is what the problem was I was seeing in high school. So we had that. We have one side of the school that's early education. So we're six weeks to three years old. And then the other side of our school is actually a full private school, a 501(c)(3), and we are pre-K through third grade. And next year, we'll be expanding to fourth and fifth grade. I know that I've talked to a lot of people that have been here that have never left, and they say, “Well, it's still the same old, same old,” but I've gotten to leave and see the world. And to come back and see that it- it is not the same as when I left before. There are some areas that we definitely, as a community, as a city, can grow in, but there's progress happening. And so what's keeping me here is the opportunity to be a part of the progress that's happening. I do work part time for a architecture firm, and they specialize in economic development on the East Sides; in particular, with churches, with schools, and the community. And I took that job with all the other things that I have going on because I really believe and I really believe that companies, firms are– we’re a Black-owned architecture firm, KAI Texas, I would be remiss if I did not give them a shout out–but I believe in what they're doing and their vision. And being from here, I wanted to be a part of that. They just- were just completing- they- they were the architect design team for the Hilliard Clinic that's right here on the East Side. They built Select Federal Credit Union, and they built East Meadows, the mixed housing. So an opportunity to be a part of that just really keeps me here. I mean, from education to building, I think there's a lot of opportunities here in San Antonio and I think we're a hidden gem. Your story allows them to dream outside of that block or outside of that violence or outside of that situation that they're in. So I think sometimes we get caught up in the superstardom, that we lose sight of the vision. So I think that the challenge for me has to remain humble, to remain prayerful, and know that it's only by the grace of God that I do what I do, not because I'm so smart. ‘Cause there's others that have gotten master's in education and done all of this. So I just think the challenge is to remain humble and to always remember to help somebody else. Don't just try to be on an island by yourself. You were put here, we're put here, all put here to serve and to help others. And I think sometimes we get in that we're put here to be served. So I think it- that's just important, just to stay humble and stay hungry.
